New Delhi, December 2, 2025 — The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the ongoing trial against former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The apex court’s decision comes as a significant relief to the senior BJP leader, halting proceedings that were underway in a lower court.
The court observed that serious questions of law were involved in the matter and agreed to examine the legal validity of continuing the trial at this stage. Meanwhile, political reactions have intensified across Karnataka, with opposition parties demanding accountability, while the BJP has termed the stay a vindication of Yediyurappa’s legal stand.
