Kolkata | December 3, 2025 — West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday strongly criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming that his alleged “SIR ploy” to influence the state’s political landscape “will not succeed.” Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Banerjee accused the central government of trying to interfere in Bengal’s governance ahead of upcoming elections.
Banerjee asserted that the people of Bengal remain vigilant and will not be swayed by political maneuvers, emphasizing her party’s commitment to protecting the state’s interests. She warned that attempts to manipulate administrative processes for political gain would backfire, reaffirming her confidence in the Trinamool Congress’ strong grassroots support. The remarks add fuel to the ongoing political debate over central intervention in state affairs.
