19 November 2025 ,New Delhi, the Supreme Court issued a significant directive to the Central Government, urging it to create a comprehensive national policy and uniform rules governing organ transplantation across India. The bench highlighted that the current inconsistencies in regulations among states are causing delays and inequalities for patients awaiting transplants.
The Court stressed that a unified national framework would ensure transparency, fairness, and faster medical responses, especially in critical cases. It also asked the Centre to consult experts, medical institutions, and state authorities to draft rules that safeguard both donors and recipients while promoting ethical organ donation practices nationwide.
