Vijayawada, January 2:
Red gram farmers across several districts of Andhra Pradesh are facing severe financial distress after market prices fell sharply below the Minimum Support Price. Farmers said they are struggling to recover cultivation costs due to rising input expenses, including fertilisers, labour and transportation, coupled with weak procurement support.
Farmer associations have demanded immediate government intervention through procurement operations, market stabilisation measures and financial assistance. Agriculture department officials said the situation is under close monitoring and assured that steps would be taken to safeguard farmers’ interests and prevent further losses.
