PM Modi Reviews Preparations for Republic Day 2026, Emphasises Cultural Heritage

New Delhi, January 19, 2026:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday reviewed the final preparations for Republic Day 2026, set to take place on 26 January, and underscored the importance of reflecting India’s rich cultural heritage and military strength during the celebrations. In a detailed meeting with senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Culture and other agencies, Modi emphasised that this year’s parade — marking 150 years of “Vande Mataram” — should inspire pride and unity among citizens while showcasing the nation’s evolving narrative.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the Republic Day tableau and the parade programme should balance valor, art, history and progress, ensuring that school children, cultural troupes and defence contingents all contribute to a display that resonates with people from all regions. He directed thorough rehearsals and inter-agency coordination to ensure flawless execution and safety, stressing that the event should align with India’s constitutional values and growing global stature.
