Amaravati, January 2:
The Andhra Pradesh government is actively considering a series of public relief measures ahead of the forthcoming local body elections, aiming to ease the financial burden on citizens amid rising living costs. Sources in the administration indicated that the proposals under discussion include possible concessions on electricity tariffs, rationalisation of certain service charges and expansion of welfare benefits for vulnerable sections of society.
Senior officials said inter-departmental consultations are currently underway to evaluate the fiscal impact of the proposed relief. Final decisions are expected after Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu returns from his overseas visit, following which the government may make a formal announcement. The administration has stressed the need to strike a balance between public welfare commitments and financial discipline.
