National Education Day: Celebrating Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s Vision for an Educated India

New Delhi, November 11, 2025: India is celebrating National Education Day today to honour the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the country’s first Union Education Minister and one of the key architects of modern Indian education. Azad, a freedom fighter, scholar, and visionary leader, believed that education was the foundation of a progressive nation and strongly advocated for equal learning opportunities for all. Schools, colleges, and educational institutions across the country are marking the day with seminars, exhibitions, and activities highlighting his contributions to nation-building through education.

Maulana Azad played a crucial role in shaping India’s education framework post-independence, laying the foundation for institutions such as the University Grants Commission (UGC), IITs, and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). His emphasis on scientific learning, women’s education, and universal schooling continues to inspire India’s educational reforms. National Education Day serves as a reminder of his commitment to inclusive, accessible, and quality education for every citizen, reinforcing the nation’s ongoing journey towards a knowledge-driven future.
