India Fast-Tracks Procurement of Advanced Heron MK-II Drones After Lessons from Operation Sindoor

New Delhi, December 2, 2025 — In a major boost to India’s surveillance and strike capabilities, the government has moved to procure more Heron MK-II unmanned aerial vehicles following the operational success and strategic lessons drawn from Operation Sindoor. The advanced drones, equipped with long endurance, enhanced radar systems, and precision strike features, are expected to significantly strengthen India’s border monitoring and counter-terror operations.

Defence sources indicated that the move reflects India’s growing push toward modern, technology-driven warfare and self-reliance in critical defence capabilities.
