West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack on the BJP amid the ongoing Vande Mataram debate, questioning the party’s respect for freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. She said that if the BJP claims not to appreciate Netaji’s ideology, then it raises serious doubts about who they truly honour in India’s freedom struggle.
Mamata Banerjee further accused the BJP of trying to distort history for political purposes and selectively promoting nationalist symbols. She asserted that Netaji belongs to the entire nation and not to any one party. Her remarks have intensified the political clash between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP in West Bengal ahead of upcoming political developments.
