New Delhi, November 19, 2025 — The Bar Council of India (BCI) has removed an advocate from its rolls after discovering that he had enrolled using a “fake” LLB degree. The council stated that the certificate submitted during enrollment was not issued by any recognized university, raising serious concerns about the infiltration of unqualified individuals into the legal profession. Officials noted that the case demonstrates the need for stricter verification processes during registration.
The BCI further warned that the incident indicates possible deep collusion between individuals involved in producing fraudulent educational documents. The council has referred the matter for a criminal investigation and urged state bar councils to conduct random checks to prevent similar cases. Authorities say the crackdown is part of a broader effort to uphold the integrity and credibility of the legal community.
