New Delhi, December 2, 2025 — The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed petitions filed by star wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat challenging the validity of the recently conducted Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections. The court refused to interfere with the electoral process, dealing a major legal setback to the protesting wrestlers who had alleged irregularities in the election procedure.
With the court’s decision, the newly elected WFI body gets a legal green signal to function without hindrance. The verdict is being viewed as a significant development in the long-running standoff between top wrestlers and the wrestling administration, even as athlete groups continue to demand systemic reforms and greater transparency in sports governance.
