Hyderabad, October 31, 2025: Severe floods triggered by Cyclone Montha have caused widespread devastation across Telangana, leaving at least 12 people dead and 4 missing. Continuous heavy rainfall over the past three days led to overflowing rivers, submerged villages, and large-scale displacement of residents in districts including Khammam, Warangal, Nalgonda, and Mahabubabad. Disaster Response teams and local authorities have been carrying out rescue operations, evacuating thousands to relief camps set up by the state government.
The agricultural sector has suffered massive losses, with nearly 4.47 lakh acres of standing crops—mainly paddy, cotton, and maize—reportedly damaged due to flooding. Farmers are facing severe financial distress as fields remain waterlogged, threatening the upcoming harvest season. The state government is assessing the full extent of damage to announce compensation and long-term rehabilitation measures. With more rain forecasts for the next 48 hours, authorities have issued alerts urging residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious.
