Congress’ KC Venugopal Accuses Kerala Govt of Eyeing Temple Wealth Amid Sabarimala Gold Theft Row

Thiruvananthapuram, November 2025: Senior Congress leader KC Venugopal launched a scathing attack on the Kerala government, accusing the ruling CPM of being “more interested in the wealth of temples” than in safeguarding their sanctity. His remarks came in response to the recent gold theft controversy at the Sabarimala temple, which has sparked political tension across the state.

Venugopal alleged that the Left government has failed to protect temple assets and has shown negligence in maintaining transparency in temple administration. He further urged for a high-level probe into the Sabarimala gold theft case, claiming that the incident has “hurt the faith of millions of devotees” and exposed the government’s mishandling of religious institutions.
