Cold Wave Grips Kashmir As Temperatures Plunge; Srinagar Freezes At -2.1°C

Srinagar, November 13, 2025 — The Kashmir Valley is reeling under a severe cold wave, with Srinagar recording a minimum temperature of minus 2.1°C — the coldest of the season so far. The icy conditions led to frost formation on roads and rooftops, while parts of Dal Lake were seen partially frozen early Thursday morning.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cold wave is expected to persist over the next few days due to clear skies and dry weather. Residents have begun using traditional heating methods like kangris to combat the biting chill, as tourist destinations including Gulmarg and Pahalgam also recorded sub-zero temperatures, drawing winter travellers seeking the valley’s first snow.
