Coastal Security Weakens as All 18 AP Interceptor Boats Turn Defunct

Vijayawada, December 5, 2025: Serious concerns have emerged over Andhra Pradesh’s coastal security as all 18 fast-interceptor boats of the Coastal Security Police have become non-functional. Shortage of manpower and lack of infrastructure have further weakened maritime surveillance along the long coastline.

To overcome the crisis, authorities have begun using drone surveillance and expanding CCTV monitoring in sensitive coastal areas. However, experts warn that without fully operational patrol boats, coastal defence remains at serious risk.
