Tirupati, Nov 7 — A money trail of nearly ₹50 lakh has been uncovered in the alleged adulterated ghee scandal connected to the making of the famous Tirupati laddus, triggering major outrage among devotees and authorities. Investigators found that substandard and adulterated ghee was allegedly supplied to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) through a network of middlemen, compromising the quality of the sacred prasadam distributed to millions of pilgrims.
Authorities have initiated a detailed probe into the financial transactions and procurement process, suspecting involvement of suppliers and officials in inflating bills and diverting funds. The TTD has assured strict action against those responsible and promised tighter quality checks to restore devotees’ trust. The scandal has raised serious concerns over food safety and authenticity in temple offerings, prompting demands for greater transparency in the procurement chain.
