Andhra Pradesh Pushes Seaplane Connectivity, Proposes 10 Water Aerodromes Under UDAN 5.5

Vijayawada, December 2, 2025 — The Andhra Pradesh government has proposed the development of 10 water aerodromes under the Centre’s UDAN 5.5 scheme to strengthen regional air connectivity and boost tourism across the state. The initiative aims to connect far-flung coastal, riverine and hilly destinations through seaplanes, making travel faster and more accessible for tourists and local residents.

Key locations identified for the project include Araku Valley, Gandikota, Kakinada, Rushikonda, Suryalanka and Tirupati, among others. The government believes the plan will create new employment opportunities, attract private investment and significantly enhance the tourism economy. The proposal is part of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s broader infrastructure vision to position Andhra Pradesh as a major travel and investment hub.
