After SC’s Direction, Haryana Orders Action on Stray Dogs, Cattle

Chandigarh, November 29, 2025 — Following the Supreme Court’s directive, the Haryana government has instructed authorities to take strict action against stray dogs and cattle roaming on roads, which pose safety risks to commuters and pedestrians. Officials have been asked to coordinate with municipal bodies to remove and properly manage stray animals in urban and rural areas.

The government emphasized that while action would be taken to ensure public safety, it must comply with animal welfare laws. Measures will include setting up shelters, vaccination drives, and awareness campaigns to prevent accidents and improve the coexistence of humans and animals on public roads.
