December 8, 2025,New Delhi

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to grant an urgent hearing on a plea seeking immediate intervention over large-scale flight cancellations by IndiGo Airlines. The petitioner had raised concerns about inconvenience to passengers and financial losses caused by sudden cancellations. However, the top court observed that the central government has already taken necessary steps to address the issue, reducing the need for urgent judicial interference.

The court further noted that regulatory authorities are actively monitoring the situation to ensure passenger safety and proper compliance by airlines. While declining the plea for immediate hearing, the Supreme Court left the door open for regular listing of the matter if the situation worsens. The issue of frequent flight disruptions has recently sparked nationwide debate over airline accountability and passenger rights.
