New Delhi | November 28, 2025 — In a major statement reflecting India’s growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing, a top government official said that the majority of the country’s military equipment is expected to be Indian-made within the next decade. The remark highlights the rapid progress of the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives aimed at reducing dependence on foreign arms imports.
The official noted that indigenous fighter jets, warships, missiles, drones, and advanced surveillance systems are already strengthening the armed forces. With increased private-sector participation, technology transfers, and global defence partnerships, India is positioning itself not just as a major defence consumer but also as a future exporter. Experts say this transition will enhance national security, boost jobs, and strengthen India’s strategic standing worldwide.
