
Chennai | November 28, 2025 — Authorities have issued an Orange Alert across coastal districts of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu as Cyclone ‘Ditwah’ intensifies over the Bay of Bengal and moves closer to land. Weather officials warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall, gusty winds touching 90–110 kmph, and rough sea conditions over the next 48 hours, urging fishermen to remain off the waters.
District administrations have activated disaster response teams, with NDRF units placed on standby and evacuation plans ready in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Power, transport, and emergency services are on high alert, while relief camps are being prepared for vulnerable communities. Residents have been advised to stay indoors, secure loose belongings, and strictly follow official advisories as Cyclone Ditwah approaches landfall.
