New Delhi, November 27, 2025 : India’s newly appointed Chief Justice of India (CJI) recommended that OTT platforms implement age verification using Aadhaar to regulate access to content deemed obscene or unsuitable for minors. The suggestion aims to strengthen content regulation and ensure that younger audiences are shielded from inappropriate material.
The CJI emphasized the need for a robust mechanism that balances freedom of expression with public responsibility. Industry experts noted that such measures could lead to tighter compliance on digital platforms, while sparking debates around privacy, data security, and effective implementation of age-restriction protocols.
