Guwahati, November 2025: In a major crackdown on misinformation, the Assam Police have arrested five individuals for allegedly spreading provocative and misleading content related to the recent Delhi blast incident. The arrests were made following coordinated cyber monitoring after objectionable posts surfaced on social media platforms, aimed at inciting public unrest and communal tension.
Authorities confirmed that the accused were detained from different districts across Assam and have been booked under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and Indian Penal Code. Police officials stated that the operation was part of a broader effort to combat fake news and hate speech, emphasizing that strict action will continue against anyone attempting to disturb peace through digital platforms.
