
New York, 12 November 2025 — United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly blast that occurred near the Red Fort in Delhi. In a statement issued by Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq, the UN Chief conveyed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the horrific explosion. He urged the Government of India to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and reiterated his firm condemnation of violence and acts of terrorism. Guterres emphasized that those responsible for carrying out the attack must be held fully accountable.
During the daily media briefing on Tuesday (local time), Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq responded to a question about the Delhi blast, reaffirming the UN’s solidarity with India. “We express our deepest sympathies to the Government and the people of India. A full and transparent investigation into the attack is essential,” Haq stated, adding that the Secretary-General continues to call for global cooperation in combating terrorism and safeguarding civilian lives.
Haq also commented on the suicide attack that took place in Islamabad, noting that the Secretary-General was deeply saddened by the incident. He extended condolences to the victims’ families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. Several world leaders have also expressed solidarity over the Delhi blast, sharing messages of condolence on social media and offering support to the bereaved families.
