Sydney, January 2:
Australian batter Travis Head has confirmed that he will skip an upcoming major T20 tournament, citing emotional and physical exhaustion following an intense international season. Head said the continuous pressure of playing across formats, combined with extensive travel and high expectations, has taken a significant toll on his mental well-being.
The left-handed batter explained that taking a short break away from competitive cricket was necessary to refresh himself ahead of future international commitments. He added that managing workload and mental health has become increasingly important in modern cricket, especially with packed schedules and minimal recovery time between tournaments.
Travis Head further stated that the decision was taken after discussions with team management and medical staff, keeping long-term fitness and performance in mind. He emphasised that stepping away temporarily would help him return stronger and more focused, particularly with key international fixtures lined up later in the year.
