Kolkata, January 20:
BJP leader Dilip Ghosh on Monday alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal is obstructing the progress of Special Investment Regions (SIRs) in the state. Speaking at a press briefing, Ghosh claimed that bureaucratic delays, policy roadblocks, and political interference are being used to stall key investment projects, which he said could have generated employment and boosted the state’s economic growth.
Ghosh further stated that SIRs are crucial for attracting both domestic and foreign investors, and hindrance in their implementation could affect West Bengal’s competitiveness compared to other states. He called upon the Centre to intervene and ensure smooth execution of these projects, highlighting that timely completion of SIR initiatives is vital for infrastructure development, industrial expansion, and creating opportunities for local communities. The BJP leader also warned that continued obstruction could discourage future investments and negatively impact the state’s industrial ecosystem.
