Kolkata, December 23:
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghose on Tuesday remarked that certain issues involving a neighbouring country cannot be directly influenced by India, stating, “They are a separate country, we can’t do anything.” The comment comes amid ongoing discussions about cross-border concerns and regional cooperation in South Asia.
Ghose emphasized that while India can engage in diplomatic dialogue and multilateral efforts, the sovereignty of neighbouring nations must be respected. He urged policymakers and citizens to focus on strengthening bilateral relations and regional stability rather than attempting unilateral interventions.
Political analysts noted that Ghose’s statement highlights the complexity of cross-border diplomacy and the need for pragmatic approaches when dealing with sovereign nations. Observers also pointed out that the remark may spark debate over India’s role in regional security and policy measures.
TMC sources added that Ghose’s comments reflect the party’s commitment to diplomatic engagement and peaceful resolution of disputes, underscoring the importance of respecting international norms and treaties.
Experts commented that the statement could influence public discourse on foreign policy, especially in states bordering sensitive regions, while shaping the narrative on India’s regional engagement strategy.
