“The Makers Did Not Approach Us or Seek Our Permission”: Shah Bano’s Grandson Alleges Breach of Family’s Privacy

New Delhi, November 4, 2025: Jubair Ahmad Khan, grandson of Shah Bano Begum, has alleged that the makers of an upcoming film inspired by the landmark 1985 Shah Bano case did not consult or inform the family before making the project. He expressed disappointment that the teaser was released without their knowledge, stating that the filmmakers neither approached the family nor sought permission to portray their late grandmother’s life on screen.

Jubair further claimed that the film misrepresents several aspects of their family’s personal journey and accused the makers of distorting facts for dramatic effect. Calling it a violation of their family’s privacy, he revealed that they have taken legal steps to prevent the film’s release. The family maintains that the story, being deeply personal and sensitive, should not be commercialised without their consent or factual accuracy.
