New Delhi, January 19: Author Taslima Nasreen has reacted sharply to music composer AR Rahman’s recent “communal” remark, stating that influential and wealthy individuals rarely face real consequences for their statements. In a post responding to the controversy, Nasreen remarked that “the rich and famous never face difficulties,” suggesting that privilege often shields public figures from accountability.
Her comments have added a fresh dimension to the ongoing debate surrounding Rahman’s remarks, which have drawn criticism from several quarters. While Rahman has not issued any further clarification, the controversy continues to spark discussions on freedom of expression, responsibility of public figures, and the unequal impact of backlash on individuals from different sections of society.
