Kamchatka, November 5: A powerful earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck off the east coast of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula on Tuesday, causing strong tremors across the region. According to early seismic readings, the quake’s epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean, at a considerable depth, which helped reduce the impact on land.
No major damage or casualties have been reported so far, and authorities are assessing the situation. Residents in nearby coastal towns experienced noticeable shaking, prompting temporary evacuations as a precaution. Local disaster management teams remain on alert, though no tsunami warning has been issued at this time.
