New Delhi, December 13: The Speaker of the Lok Sabha will examine allegations related to e-cigarettes raised by the Congress party, officials said on Friday. The issue was brought up in the House amid growing concerns over the use and regulation of electronic nicotine delivery systems in India.
Congress leaders urged the Speaker to initiate a detailed inquiry, citing potential health risks and violations of existing regulations. Parliamentary analysts said the move underscores the increasing scrutiny of public health matters in the legislature and highlights the opposition’s focus on holding the government accountable for regulatory enforcement.
