Seizures Cross ₹100 Crore as Enforcement Tightens for Bihar Polls & Bye‑Polls

New Delhi, November 3, 2025 — The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that enforcement agencies have confiscated illicit inducements valued at over ₹108.19 crore ahead of the upcoming 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly election and several simultaneous bye‑elections.

The breakdown of items seized includes around ₹9.62 crore in cash, liquor worth about ₹42.14 crore (approx. 9.6 lakh litres), drugs valued at ₹24.61 crore, precious metals worth ₹5.8 crore and other freebies exceeding ₹26 crore. The ECI said 824 “flying squads” have been deployed across Bihar to act on complaints via the C‑VIGIL app within 100 minutes, pointing to its intensified effort to ensure clean polling.
