Rubio: Unilateral Annexation Could Destabilize Israel-Palestine Truce

Washington D.C., October 23, 2025 — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned that the Knesset’s proposed plan to annex parts of the West Bank could jeopardize former President Donald Trump’s peace deal for Gaza. Speaking at a press briefing, Rubio emphasized that unilateral moves on territory could undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts and destabilize the fragile truce between Israel and Palestinian authorities. He stressed the importance of coordinated actions to maintain peace and avoid escalation in the region.

Rubio highlighted that the U.S. remains committed to supporting a sustainable and lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He noted that any unilateral annexation could trigger international criticism and complicate the implementation of the Gaza peace framework, which aims to ensure stability, humanitarian access, and long-term security for all parties involved.
