Pakistan Counters Trump’s Nuclear Test Claim, Says “We Weren’t the First, Nor the Last”

Islamabad, November 4, 2025: Pakistan issued a sharp rebuttal to former US President Donald Trump’s recent claim regarding the country’s nuclear testing history. Responding to Trump’s remarks, Pakistan’s Foreign Office stated that the nation “wasn’t the first, nor will be the last” to conduct nuclear tests, emphasising that its actions were driven purely by national security concerns. Officials reiterated that Pakistan’s nuclear programme is a defensive measure, developed to maintain regional strategic balance.

The statement further underlined that Pakistan has always advocated responsible nuclear policies and believes in maintaining stability in South Asia. Without directly naming Trump, the Foreign Office noted that misinformed comments by public figures could distort historical facts and create unnecessary controversy. Analysts view Pakistan’s response as an effort to safeguard its global image and reaffirm its stance on nuclear responsibility.
