Islamabad/Kabul, October 31, 2025: Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to extend their ongoing ceasefire in a bid to ease border tensions and create a conducive environment for dialogue. The decision was reached following back-channel communication between officials from both nations, aimed at preventing further clashes along the border areas that have seen repeated hostilities in recent months. The extended ceasefire is expected to hold until the next round of formal talks takes place.
Both countries have confirmed that a fresh round of peace talks will be held in the coming weeks to address long-standing security concerns, cross-border militancy, and trade disputes. Diplomatic sources indicated that regional stability and cooperation were key priorities, with pressure from international partners encouraging both sides to pursue peaceful negotiations. The extension of the ceasefire has been welcomed as a positive step toward reducing friction and fostering dialogue between the neighbouring nations.
