The investments grew rapidly, rising to approximately $385 million in early 2021 and later touching around $430 million by August 2024. The revelations have triggered serious concerns among global investors and raised questions about due-diligence processes in private credit lending.

  • Historians Weigh In as Renaming of Delhi Sparks Deep Political and Cultural Debate

Historians Weigh In as Renaming of Delhi Sparks Deep Political and Cultural Debate

New Delhi, November 1, 2025 – The ongoing demand to rename Delhi has ignited a new wave of political and cultural debate, prompting historians to revisit the city’s layered past. Scholars argue that Delhi’s name, rooted in centuries of history, reflects the diverse dynasties, cultures, and identities that shaped the capital. Many historians caution that renaming a city like Delhi is not merely a symbolic gesture but an act that may influence how future generations interpret the nation’s heritage.

Experts also point out that city names across India have often been changed to reflect cultural pride, correct colonial imprints, or reinforce political narratives. However, in the case of Delhi, they believe the renaming push is linked to contemporary politics and identity-based sentiments. While supporters of the change view it as a step toward reinforcing cultural authenticity, historians warn that altering the name of India’s capital could lead to selective rewriting of history and fuel further ideological polarization.

He stated that the temple usually witnesses around 2,000 devotees on regular days and did not anticipate such a large crowd on this occasion. “I distributed prasadam to devotees and sent them off as usual. I never imagined such an incident would occur. Since I was unaware that so many people would come, I did not inform the police,” he said. The District Collector and SP spoke with Harimukund Panda at the temple premises and later visited the hospital where the injured devotees were being treated. Home Minister Anitha ordered a comprehensive inquiry, while the District Collector clarified that the temple is privately owned and not affiliated with the Endowments Department, assuring that safety measures like CCTV installations will be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.
