Geneva, November 13, 2025:
The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported a significant decline in global tuberculosis (TB) cases and deaths in 2024, marking progress in the fight against one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases. However, the agency warned that funding shortfalls and inequitable access to healthcare continue to hinder further advancements, especially in low-income nations.
According to the report, TB deaths fell by nearly 7% globally, with improved detection and treatment programs contributing to the reduction. Despite these gains, WHO emphasized the need for sustained international funding and innovation to maintain momentum and meet the global target of ending TB by 2030.
