More Than 97 Lakh Electors Removed From ECI’s Draft SIR Roll In Tamil Nadu

Chennai, December 20:
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday revealed that more than 97 lakh electors have been removed from the draft Special Summary Revision (SSR) voter list in Tamil Nadu. Officials said the deletions were part of routine verification and updation processes ahead of upcoming elections.

Authorities clarified that the removals include duplicate entries, deceased voters, and other discrepancies identified during the verification exercise. Citizens whose names were removed are being advised to check the draft rolls and file claims if needed.

The ECI stressed that the process aims to ensure an accurate and transparent voter list, preventing electoral fraud and maintaining the integrity of elections. Officials urged voters to actively participate in reviewing the draft lists and report any errors.
