Thiruvananthapuram, January 20:
Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Monday suggested introducing legislation to formally recognise Malayalam as the official language of the state. Speaking at an official function, the Governor emphasised the importance of preserving and promoting the regional language in administration, education, and cultural spheres.
The Governor highlighted that making Malayalam the official language would strengthen cultural identity and ensure wider accessibility of government services for citizens. Officials noted that the proposal would require legislative approval and could pave the way for structured policies to promote the use of Malayalam in official communications, public signage, and educational institutions across Kerala.
