Srinagar, November 4, 2025: A high-profile private T20 league held at the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar collapsed in dramatic fashion when the organisers reportedly fled the venue overnight, leaving players, umpires and hotel staff stranded and unpaid. Around 40 international and domestic cricketers, including well-known names, found themselves stuck in their hotel rooms with accommodation bills unpaid and no clear communication from the league management.
The tournament, termed the Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL), had drawn significant interest after the inclusion of star players, and was seen as a major opportunity to promote cricket and sports tourism in the region. However, the abrupt disappearance of the organisers has raised serious questions about the league’s credibility, financial management and regulatory oversight—particularly since it lacked official sanction from the governing cricket body.
