India Launches Year-Long Celebrations to Mark 100 Years of Indian Hockey

New Delhi, November 5: Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has announced a grand centenary celebration to commemorate 100 years of Indian Hockey, marking a historic milestone in the nation’s sporting legacy. The year-long events aim to honour India’s rich hockey heritage, iconic players, and memorable achievements that established the country as a global powerhouse in the sport.

The centenary celebrations will include nationwide tournaments, legacy programs, museum exhibitions, and initiatives to promote grassroots talent. Mandaviya emphasized that the occasion will not only pay tribute to past legends but also inspire a new generation to take Indian hockey to greater heights on the international stage.
