“India and Japan Hold Greater Responsibility for Indo-Pacific Stability”: Jaishankar

Tokyo, Japan, Nov 5: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stated that India and Japan share a greater responsibility in ensuring peace, stability, and development in the Indo-Pacific region. Speaking at a bilateral meeting in Tokyo, he emphasized that both nations, as major democracies and key strategic partners, must work closely to uphold a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific. He highlighted the importance of joint initiatives in defence, technology, connectivity, and maritime security to counter emerging regional challenges.

Jaishankar added that the evolving geopolitical landscape requires stronger coordination between India and Japan to safeguard shared interests and maintain regional balance. He underscored the significance of cooperation in infrastructure development, supply-chain resilience, and economic partnerships across the Indo-Pacific. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic ties, with a focus on long-term collaboration for regional prosperity and security.
