The International Cricket Council (ICC) has formally turned down Bangladesh’s request to shift venues for the 2026 T20 World Cup, reinforcing that the tournament schedule and locations are final. ICC officials stated that while Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) raised concerns regarding preparedness and logistics, the governing body is committed to maintaining the integrity of the tournament schedule and ensuring consistency for broadcasters, teams, and global audiences. The decision comes as a reminder of the strict protocols ICC follows for international events, emphasizing planning, infrastructure standards, and adherence to timelines.
Sources within the ICC highlighted that venue changes at this stage could disrupt broadcasting arrangements, ticketing, and international team travel plans, making rescheduling impractical. The BCB had cited concerns over stadium readiness and local infrastructure ahead of the T20 World Cup, but the ICC stressed that contingency measures are in place to ensure a smooth conduct of the matches.
