Dropped Catches, Under-Par Score: MI Coach Slams Performance After WPL 2026 Opener Loss To RCB

Mumbai, January 10:
Mumbai Indians coach delivered a blunt assessment of his team’s performance following their loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the opening match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026, pointing to dropped catches and an under-par total as key reasons for the defeat. The coach said crucial lapses in the field allowed RCB to stay in the contest, while the batting unit failed to capitalise on promising starts, leaving the bowlers with too little to defend.

Highlighting the fine margins in T20 cricket, the MI coach stressed that such mistakes prove costly at the highest level and need immediate correction. He added that while it was only the first match of the season, the team must improve execution in both departments going forward, asserting that sharper fielding and more intent with the bat will be essential for MI to bounce back strongly in the remaining fixtures.
