Dealing With Bangladesh Is Centre’s Responsibility: TMC’s Kunal Ghosh

Kolkata, December 22:
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh on Monday said that handling issues related to Bangladesh falls under the responsibility of the Union Government, urging the Centre to take proactive steps in addressing cross-border matters.

Speaking to reporters, Ghosh emphasised that state governments can play a supportive role, but matters concerning foreign policy, border security, and diplomatic negotiations are primarily within the domain of the central government. He highlighted the need for coordinated efforts to ensure security and maintain good bilateral relations.

Political analysts noted that Ghosh’s remarks reflect ongoing concerns over cross-border issues in the region and underline the expectations from the Union Government to take timely action. They added that such statements are often made to clarify the respective roles of state and central authorities.

Ghosh further urged the Centre to provide updates and ensure transparency in managing bilateral matters, stressing that effective engagement with Bangladesh is crucial for trade, security, and cultural exchanges.
