New Delhi, January 7:
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched psycho-social counselling support services for students beginning January 6, with the objective of addressing academic stress, mental health concerns and emotional well-being ahead of examinations. The initiative is part of CBSE’s broader effort to provide a supportive and student-friendly environment, particularly for students of Classes 10 and 12 who often experience heightened pressure during the examination season. Officials said the counselling services will be available through trained professionals and volunteers, offering guidance on stress management, time management and emotional resilience.
The counselling support will be accessible through multiple platforms, including tele-counselling and interactive sessions, ensuring that students, parents and teachers can seek assistance when needed. CBSE emphasised that the programme is designed to create awareness about mental health and encourage students to openly discuss challenges without fear of stigma. Education experts welcomed the move, stating that timely psycho-social support can significantly improve students’ confidence, concentration and overall academic performance. The initiative reflects CBSE’s growing focus on holistic education that prioritises not only academic excellence but also the mental and emotional well-being of learners.
