Boeing Escapes Criminal Charges in 737 Max Crash Case That Claimed Hundreds of Lives

Washington, Nov 7 — Boeing will not face criminal prosecution over the two tragic 737 Max plane crashes that killed hundreds of passengers in Indonesia and Ethiopia, as US authorities have decided against pursuing charges. The crashes in 2018 and 2019, linked to a faulty flight-control system, had raised global outrage and led to the grounding of the 737 Max fleet worldwide for nearly two years.

The US Department of Justice had reviewed whether Boeing violated terms of a previous settlement but concluded that criminal charges would not move forward. Families of the victims expressed deep disappointment, stating that the decision denied them justice and accountability. Boeing, which has already paid billions in fines, compensation, and safety overhaul commitments, maintains that it has made major changes to improve aircraft safety and restore trust in its manufacturing practices.
