Dhaka, December 1, 2025 — A Dhaka court on Monday sentenced former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to five years in prison after convicting her in a land-allocation scam involving government-owned plots in the Purbachal project. The verdict follows findings that her family misused their influence to secure prime plots under the state housing scheme.
The court also revoked the disputed land allocations and imposed fines on Hasina and other co-accused. This case is among several corruption charges filed by the country’s Anti-Corruption Commission, which plans to continue prosecution under multiple ongoing cases.
