
Kuala Lumpur, October 31, 2025 — Speaking at the ASEAN-India Defence Ministers’ Informal Meeting on the sidelines of the 12th ADMM-Plus, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reaffirmed that the ASEAN–India relationship will remain a strong pillar of regional stability. He emphasized that India values ASEAN centrality and highlighted the importance of close defence and security cooperation for ensuring peace, prosperity, and a stable Indo-Pacific region. Singh noted that continued dialogue, adherence to international law, and deeper defence engagements will enhance mutual trust and strengthen collective security among participating nations.
Rajnath Singh further underlined India’s commitment to advancing its ‘Act East’ policy through practical partnerships, capacity-building initiatives, and information sharing with ASEAN member countries. He also held bilateral meetings with several counterparts on the sidelines of the event, where discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in maritime security, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and counterterrorism. Singh stressed that multilateral cooperation remains vital to addressing shared challenges and safeguarding regional stability.
