Rio de Janeiro, November 8, 2025: India has urged developed countries to accelerate their emission-reduction commitments as the global carbon budget continues to shrink at an alarming rate. Speaking at the COP30 climate summit, Indian representatives stressed that delayed climate action by industrialized nations is pushing the world closer to irreversible environmental damage.
India reiterated that climate justice and equitable responsibility must guide global climate policies, highlighting that developing nations are disproportionately affected despite contributing less to emissions. The country called for enhanced climate financing, technology transfer, and stronger accountability from wealthier nations to keep the 1.5°C target within reach.
